Is the Sudhaus the best resetter for Canon CLI8?

The resetter landscape is becoming more cluttered.We have the original Sudhaus(now for about $20 on Ebay) and many models of the "blue" resetter that apparently come from various Asian sources.Is the German-made ,original,red Sudhaus still the best deal?I assume that prying the bottom off for battery changes is still the best route?Advice?Thanks! Fred

Not sure: I think you may get similar good results with the blue resetters, but one can ask if the construction quality will be the same.

Of the pictures that I have seen of the innards of the various resetters,the Sudhaus seems to be less cluttered and of better quality.It's been around longer than the others,too.And now that it's cost is as low as the Asian copies,it may be the way to go.I really prefer the idea of a single battery,too.

Yes the landscape is cluttered but the solution is simple. Either get one that is definitely Sudhaus (being red is not enough) or get one which is offered with a guarantee.

I got Peach resetter it is bad to use and needed remove from ink refill hole sealing plugs. But it reset OEM noncanon ink cartridges. I not had no non canon cartridges to test. It similar to redsetter battery and PCB looks near same. I resetted all cartridges what i had success.

Btw, I've read here that the Sudhaus Inkjet GmbH ist insolvent (they also made ink and other stuff).
But the developers of the Redsetter set up a new company named Dicodes GmbH, which will continue the production of the Redsetters.
And they're working on a new resetter for the CLI-521 - PGI-520 carts.

Btw: In may '09 there was a dispute between Sudhaus and Peach (3T-Supplies). Sudhaus said, the Peach resetter is just a 1-to-1 copy of the Sudhaus one, and Peach used an old firmware version of the Redsetter without power management, so the batteries won't last long. Peach replied that their resetter is not simply a copy of the Sudhaus one: "If there are still parts of the Sudhaus software in our chip, this is a mistake, and we're working on correcting it."

I have peach resetter but PCB looks different as what all pictures show. I can make pic of it if i get camera but chip is ATMEL ATMEGA88 20AU 0903 The PCB looks simpe as copy. This is first resetter market here what i got.

And Sudhaus said: "We built a digital watermark into our software, and as another precaution, only 1000 of the 10000 lines of code are really necessary. When we had a look at the peach resetter, we found our watermark there and also the 9000 lines of unnecessary code. But it is firmware v1, while the Redsetter uses v7 at the moment."

Be that as it may, this dispute was in may '09 and I think the two companies could settle their differences since then.
But I think there are quite a few other clones of the Redsetter now.

This chip canbe used ◦Interface Type:I2C, SPI, USART to read software and reprogram or flash it. In Estonia have these chips in market they emty http://www.oomipood.ee/?t=k_ki&i=FARNELL_9171487 Emty chip cost 40% of my resetter.
