Unless you plan to die in less than one year, those inks will out last you only if the prints are stored in a light-proof vacuum sealed box. :D
Dye inks maybe but not the pigment, and 30 years will more than adequate to see me off..
P.S. I’ve gotten more than a year from displaying prints openly using I.S. dye ink..:)

Ok, I refilled the pg-545 black cartridge with the gi-490 pigment black and no issues whatsoever. The cartridge was not completely empty when I refilled it.

I am yet to refill the color cartridge with the chromalife100 bottled ink gi-43.

I can't seem to find any official info anywhere that the cl-546 cartridges actually use Chromalife100+ or even old Chromalife100. I see that some cartridges have a label on the package that say Either Chromalife100 or Chromalife100+ but the cl-546 seem to only say FINE. Are you guys sure this cartridge uses Chromalife100+ ink?

It has been noted on the forum that Canon has most curiously not promoted an ink cartridge having one of the improved Chromalife ink sets.

Still, Canon UK states their FINE cartridges have Chromalife 100 inks and then link to the CL-546 cartridges which then makes no mention of Chromalife inks. Yet, the cl-541 has Chromalife 100 on the packaging.

https://www.canon.com.cy/printers/pixma-ink-cartridges/fine-cartridges/

To top it off, 3rd party sellers of the CL-546 inks state they are Chromalife 100+.

https://www.ewide.it/canon-canon-cl...hromalife-100-multicolore.1.33.404.gp.2495.uw

Go figure.

What is your concern if the CL-546 does not use Chromalife? Or does use Chromalife?

The CL-546 cartridge is a 3-olor combo cartridge - ae you indending to refill it ?

or even old Chromalife100.
The Chromalife 100 inkset is in wide use on different Canon printers, the Chromalife 100+ inkset is composed of an inkset with different ink colors - additional gray and photo colors used on the Pro-100(s) and Pro-200 printer models. The longevity performance of the 100 and 100+ inks is quite similar as tests have shown.

I'm sceptical that the CL-546 comes with Chromalife inks

The Chromalife ink is not mentioned in the highlights, please compare it to the CLI-8 cartridges

https://store.canon.co.uk/canon-cli-8-bk-pc-pm-r-g-5-ink-cartridge-multipack/0620B027/

The first line under 'Highlights' is a reference to Chromalife 100+, the the product image shows a notice to Chromalife 100

Yes, is that a bad idea? But if it does not contain Chromalife100 ink then I am not sure how to proceed about it as it will mix with the ink already in. Maybe I should just get the ts6350 printer with the separate ink cartridges. Funny enough, of all the cl- tri-color cartridges I checked, the cl-546 seems to be the only one that never mentions Chromalife.

These combo cartridges come with a printhead which is designed for a short usage life - just with the ink of its cartridge, if you look for refill you are indeed better off with a printer with single ink cartridges and a separate printhead
Maybe I should just get the ts6350 printer with the separate ink cartridges.

I have a Canon TR4500
It has printing head with included ink tank
I used Canon Gi-490 black to refill . My 1st impression is good. Time will tell...

Also got Gi-51 Blue-Cyan-Magenta but have not used them yet.

I though it would be good to get the cheapest canon black (half price of GI51 black) and more quality for colors
in case i Use it for photos.

I am not sure though if the black is used for photos also (I think mostly it come from mixing the CMY colours)

I have been refilling the same starting cl-561 tri-color cartridge 4 times now with the Canon GI-43 ink . It's very easy as long as you don't get them completely empty. Never had to run a cleaning cycle either.

is this true? are you still refilling it with it? can anyone confirm this?
I read one posted here that it didn't work. I'm skeptic to try.

I also want PG-745 Black cartridge to be Pigment not dye ink. coz almost every single third party ink there are dye ink. if GI-490 works (in my country is GI-790) then I would rather buy that instead.
