The problem appears to be the cart as suggested. Monday, I removed the carts, did several cleaning cycles to remove ink from the prinhead and then installed the carts in the following manner. I rotated all carts to the right. Cyan went to the magenta posistion, Magenta went to the yellow posistion and Yellow to the cyan posistion. Did a cleaning and got everything printing although colors were obviously wrong in images due to intentional cart mis-posistions. Turned it off and let it set overnight. Yesterday, turned it on and did a nozzle check. Had Yellow and Cyan but no Magenta even though the Magenta was in the yellow posistion.

I then removed the carts again, did several more cleanings to again clear the printhead. Reinstalled the carts again shifting them one step to the right. The Cyan went to the yellow posistion, the Magenta to the cyan posistion and the Yellow to the magenta posistion. Did a cleaning to get the colors printing and then turned it off for the night.

Today I turned it on, did a nozzle check and once again, no Magenta. It's hard for me to believe that both factory sealed oem Canon Magenta carts that I have would be bad. That really bothers me as I've never had to worry about oem carts before. It appears that Canon might be letting quality control slip. Those two carts were purchased about a month ago from Amazon.com. This weekend, I'll make a trip to my local Office Max and pick up a couple more just so as to make sure it wasn't a 'lot' thing.

I know this can't possibly be the problem, but did you remove the tape over the air vent?

Oh gee, I wasn't aware that carts had to actually be opened before you install them. If you want to be an ass, do it elsewhere.

I think it's terribly obvious to everyone that ghwellsjr is one of the most helpful members of this community and it is ridiculous for anybody to think otherwise.

+1 for each comment.

You ask for help and then insult the very person who has been trying to help you? WOW!!! You might want to read this book.

Come to think of it.... +2 for slocumedie's comment.

In this and most other forums, responders are stuck not knowing the level of experience of the person asking the question.
Sometime, one is damned for stating the obvious or double damned for being too advanced.
Most Questioners have the maturity and grace to deal with this without falling of their ego.

I doubt that ghwellsjr will respond because, as the bard said "The man 'o independent mind, he looks and laughs at a' that.
