Hi everyone,

Extensive fading tests done by @Ink stained Fingers have shown that Hongsam Evernew dyes are a worthy competitor to Epson Claria inks and perform significantly better than most 3rd party alternatives.

As there was some interest by others in acquiring those inks and availability in Europe seems limited to a single shop in Poland, I would be happy to organize a group buy. I did buy directly from Hongsam before, so getting in touch with them once again should be no trouble. I would be willing to order any ink type (dye or pigment), as long as we have a minimum combined volume of 1l per color and per ink type.

A very rough, rather pessimistic, pricing estimation with min. order quantities: 5 Euro/100ml for the dyes, 7.5 Euro/100ml for pigment inks. A (very large) part of that price is shipping and import costs, so a larger order for Hongsam means a significantly lower cost per ml for us as end users.

Anyway, before I figure out any other details. Who would be interested? Please indicate which inks and volumes you´d be interested in.

Take care,
Wim

I recently have bought a 12 color set of 12x1L for my canon PRO-2100. So I am safe for a while. But I follow up on you, maybe for later.
Thanks for the initiative,
Dirk

While we're UK based I can ship to the EU so if there's enough interest to warrant a minimum order I'd be happy to get something organised. We already have the bottles, bottling and sealing equipment and the like so it'd be relatively easy to sort.

TBH, I've been watching the results generated with these inks with interest anyway so it seems it's worth looking at them to see if they scratch a few folks itches.

I think it would be necessary for this Hongsam HLF dye ink that a few more people get interested in this ink, there is the competition of the low cost Chinese inks for which longevity does not count as a purchasing criteria but only the price.
I'm not familiar if Hongsam is offering as well a Canon compatible HLF - high light fastness - ink, and I'm not familiar with the characteristics of their pigment inks - gloss - gamut since pigment inks are somewhat sensitive to partiular papers.

I currently have plenty of ink - from all the fading tests in the last months and years.

Hongsam does offer Canon compatible Evernew dye inks. Their pigment inks are decent as well and have gloss characteristics similar to Epson OEM inks. The only clear exception is photo black, which has a rather high L value of 8 to 10 on RC papers. I have not tried their matte black.

That would be an excellent solution as well :)

Canon pigment ink users here would be interested in your experience.

Well, I could interested as well if there's a solution for doing a kind of "starter cartridges" for the printers I'm reselling. (Actually mainly Canon, but can change depending on new agreements that should be taken in the next few months)

Hi everyone. Short update: I am still following this thread, but at the moment it seems that there are too many scattered "maybes" to make this do-able for me. Let's see how things develop...

Okay... As I'm in the process of reviewing our inks and the like going forward I'm open to purchasing a small amount of these inks for decanting and making available via the OctoInkjet store. We've done it with other inks like the ingredients for Paul Roark's B&W ink set so this isn't too much harder to organise.

I do however need the contact details and the specific ink references so I can place the order, so can someone relocate or share that information so I can get the ball rolling?

I'll update as/when I've checked it won't break the bank or not work for any other reason, although I'm not foreseeing any just yet.
