Inkjet Vs Colour Laser

Hi,

I have a dilema regarding my print options in the office.
We current use a kyocera colour laser, but am thinking about replacing it with an inkjet using a CISS option.
I know the Inkjet must not be host based, and must conform to PCL6 & LPD.

Can anybody offer any advice regarding either suitable inkjet options or reasons to stay away from inkjets and stick with a colour laser????

My advice to you would be to stick with what you know and what is currently working for you.

An office environment has too many variables to it, an inkjet might be better
but it would need personal attrition for time to time and it might not get that in a busy working office.

The laser printer is as good as it gets just press the button and out pops the paper,
fast reliable and no thinking involved by anybody to bugger things up..

Now if you really not convinced then why not install an inkjet alongside the laser printer and see how they compare..

Yeah, they drink liquid gold, and lots of it. It's either that or spend the time and money and learn to refill.

A CIS would be using aftermarket inks, so the ink cost would not be the issue. As The Hat posted, however, inkjets can require more attention - especially CIS units from what I've read on this forum. They can be glitchy.

You may want to research the laser printers you're looking at and see how much refilled cartridges cost. I've found that buying refilled cartridges isn't really any more expensive than doing it yourself. Laser self-refilling businesses seem to run on the idea that it's "slightly cheaper" not "amazingly cheaper" like inkjet refills are. Plus you have to buy hole melting tools and new chips (laser chips are almost never resettable) and it just didn't seem worth the effort when I was able to get 3 toner carts for $33. But mine is B&W. When I was looking at getting a color laser, some had very affordable aftermarket carts, others did not.

That is why I have A HP Lasejet 6L with a few spares for parts. They chip free. Works OK if you have memory added to it. The refill is more cheap than ready cartridges about 70% where I live.

I buy the 2 blades and drum from a refill company for cheap. I recently got a good deal on 10kg of original canon toner so I think at least for BW I'm covered for life
