You are right to consider this as defective. But on the other hand they may be easily fixed before you put them into your printer. For the price you pay this is not really too bad. I may be wrong, because I never used G&G cartridges. My guess is that the sponge they use in the cartridges gives up ink too easily. That's why ink leaks when it is full or near full of ink. The plus side of this may be it provides better ink flow as ink flows easier. Print head clogging becomes less likely. If the sponge does not give up ink too easily even it is full of ink (does not leak) I would be concerned that it may not give sufficient ink flow when ithe ink is gradually depleted from the sponge. It may actually cause the print head to clog. Based on many messages in this forum it seems print head clogging is mostly caused by reduced ink flow. If blowing out some ink fixes the leaking problem I would probably consider this kind of ink cartridges better for the printer.
