Hello everybody!

I've been reading this forum for some days and now I really don't now what to do with my Canon IP 4700.

About my problem:

I've got totally new Canon IP 4700 without any cartriges. At first I wanted to buy CISS, but after reading this forum, as I understood, CISS is not the best solution for me (I'm not printing every day)

I've read that this printer washes too much, so I start thinking on selling this printer and buying another, more reliable printer?

What should I do?:)

Thanks!

Edit:

Found on this forum:

*good ink: Hobbicolors, Image Specialists, Inktec, OCP
*Best printer for CISS: Epson with piezo printhead.

First off Welcome and you have a very good printer in the iP4700 despite having no cartridges supplied with it.
If you are worried about ink wastage forget it as all inkjet printers waste ink
but they do that just to keep the printer in good condition and ready to print.

By buying 3rd party inks wastage is never going to be a worrying problem anyway.
Now refilling your cartridges is as good as any CISS could ever be
unless you do hundreds of prints a week on a regular basics.

So find yourself a website that sells empty sets of OEM cartridges for the iP4700 and get two sets,
then source an ink supplier as close to where you live as possible
and finally get a resetter for the cartridges and youll be ready to go.
Happy printing..:)

Won't be easy? Purged and modded, with storage clips is as easy as it gets.

Someone's not doing their homework.

The refilling is not problem.
I meant that It is quite difficult to buy empty OEM carts where I live. I've made an advertisement in local web, will see - maybe someone has empty OEM carts to sell...

I live in Eastern Europe

Haven't found anything on ebay...

Found them on octoink.co.uk. Price of 2 set (10 pcs) OEM empty cartriges with shipping cost would be 30 EUR. Is it acceptable price?

A set of four CLI-521 and one PGI-520 you need for your IP4700 cost from octoink 9.75. Bear in mind you are dealing with a highly reputable UK supplier which must be worth something!! Do you really need to double up??

Would it be possible to print photos without pigment black cartrige inserted?
I have BW laser printer for text, so maybe it is not necessary to buy PGI-520?

You can certainly print photos without the use of pigment black ink but youll still need a complete set of cartridges
to be installed in your printer before it will allow you to print anything.

If you find the empty cartridge route to expensive then why not buy filled compatible cartridges
to use once and dispose of + you wont need to buy a resetter either.

Buying empty OEM cartridges, a resetter and 3rd party inks are not the cheapest way to start into good quality printing,
but if you want to be able to print your photos at very low cost then it is.

In six months time youll be asking yourself why the hell you didnt do it earlier
because the savings are huge and the experience is most enjoyable.
Happy Printing..:)
