Independent printer manufacturer?

I'm looking for an inkjet printer that is not made by any of the big companies like Epson and Canon. I've found many that produce inkjets for industrial applications, but nothing on the consumer level which is what I'm after. Anyone know of any? I realize that most independents license some degree of their technology from Epson. That's OK.

First, I don't know of any independent printer manufacturer that can come up to the quality of the big companies.

Just what you are looking for from an independent manufacturer? Knowing that might help someone come up with a suggestion.

I was looking for a company that could sell me a printer which I could re-brand as my own. I found one in Taiwan, but they won't let me sell it in North America and Europe.
