I would try cleaning it again, especially at both ends and both sides..

Also the timing disk (paper wheel) on the left side of the carriageway, it may be worth cleaning too..

If cleaning, greasing does not help, the only way to solve is to get another printer and change swap parts.

The PRO-9500 was difficult to work on (but the maintenance manual was available) the PRO-10 almost impossible, good luck with the PRO-300.

If no service manual is available, then its harder sure, ta a lot of photos. But you still need donor printer to take mechanics from and cheap.

Thinking outside the box here but is there something on the roller edges that is stretching/warping the paper slightly?

The results seem to be entirely too uniform for it to just be some kind of judder or play in the printhead itself.

Just my 2 penneth worth.

Still puzzled about the fact that unidirectional print mode makes it go away on the left side and worsens it on the other...

Hmm... That actually sounds like one of the paper feed rollers may be warped or out of position somehow.. I wonder if the guides have slipped on one side or similar? Never seen it before myself but that's about the only thing that makes sense at the moment.

That or possibly there's something small that's gotten into the teeth of the cogs and that's pushing the roller out of position?

I have seen sutch similar problem on brother mfc 5895 a3 size printer. Text was blurry over all page, was solved by using unidirectional mode.

If paper roller was causing this then different size paper would show problem in different area. Now this is not the case.
