I can't figure out how to access the cart assy when it's in a cleaning cycle. There's not enough room without taking the top off. Is that what I should do?

I tried to do what I could but I couldn't reach the cyan tank and the assy kept moving. I'm at a loss of how to carry out your suggestion. The nozzle check after cleaning came out much as before except the magenta stripe now has a pattern of color change within it.

I just put the printhead in my other i860 and it printed the same way - no cyan. I have another printhead that I will try after I make sure that it's not clogged and will report the results.

I read in another thread that a bad logic board can fry a printhead but that a bad head won't affect the logic board. That's why I decided to try this direction.

If your cyan is printing SOMETHING, I don't believe the print head or board is "fried". But a bad printhead CAN fry a logic board! And a bad logic board can fry a print head.

It's not clear if you tried a different cyan cart. Did you.

Yes, you may have to lift the top off the printer to apply deflection to the carriage during cleaning.

After doing as you suggest, the cyan prints pretty much as you saw in the test I posted. The other cart doesn't show cyan at all. At this point, I can't say which has done which although I will now make note of which one prints something, even if minimal. Is there hope, do you think?

Okay, I see that it's easy to misunderstand stuff about these printers. I will try not to make assumptions.

If you "top fill" carts, try blowing lightly in the serpentine air vent on the top of the cart over waste paper to force out a couple ink drops from the cart outlet and try it again. DON'T try this with if you use the "German refill" method!

Also can try, drop some Windex (2-3 drops) on the inlet screen for the Cyan cart, install cart and see if it makes a difference....
