"BPC (in Gamutvision as well as Photoshop and other editors) applies only to Colorimetric rendering intents. BPC is always on for Perceptual intent, regardless of whether the box is checked. Details below. In Gamutvision, BPC is set with a dropdown menu which has four settings: (Off, 1>2 (Left data flow), 3>4 (Right data flow), and Both (On)".

Are we trying to compare profiles of different papers created with different profiling software - I see
Xrite 769 Platin 1 - 769 2 +20 - IP7250 OCP Sihl 769 Fotoglanz - IP7250 OCP Sihl 722 Seidenglanz and more ?

Profiles with xrite were made in the 769 paper, with Argyll in the 722 paper

But the main thing is, regardless of the paper and printer settings, the high dmax with i1studio, and the unusable rendering of the dark tones in the relative intent with Argyll...

Yes, I made a quick test with some printouts - BPC is always active with the perceptual rendering intent (RI), as well with Qimage, BPC off/on makes a big difference with the rel. colorimetric RI. But that's not the main subject of discussion.
I profiled a Sihl 769 (which is the glossy Aldi Sihl paper) with 1107 patches and with 50 patches - with i1Profiler to compare them. (I'm not running ArgyllCMS or other profiling software). I'm doing this test on a Epson L800 photo printer with dye inks.
I'm reading a raw black level of L*=3.2 or 3.4 on the two patch sheets which should be within even smaller tolerances.
These are the gamut plots overlaid

The green body has been created with 1107 patches, the red body with just 50 patch colors, they are pretty much identical, the gamut volume differs by 5%, there are some differences at the bottom . With 50 control points distributed
over the complete color space there are barely any in this range, this indicates that the profiling software makes
some assumptions how the gamut body should be formed here. And 280 patches with ArgyllCMS should improve that
overall as well.

Thats very intresting, i have the same paper, with only Dmax of 1.6, there has to be something wrong at least with the i1studio Software...

Colorimeters and spectrometers measurement capabilities drift and decline over time, faster depending on how you store the device. This means time since manufacture.

How old is the device?

Why - Isn't ArgyllCMS appearing to be the culprit for the weak black point ?

I don't think that either - we rather should analyze the raw data you are feeding into i1Studio or ArgyllCMS - It should be just the value of the black patch we should compare.
(I'm running i1 Profiler with an i1Pro spectrometer, and used an Epson L800 with the Epson 106 dye inks for the test above, black inks - dye or pigment - vary quite a lot between suppliers)
