Hello

I wish to upgrade my Canon MG5650 Printer (all in one),

I wonder what the successor to the Model was, ?

I'm really looking for something that it is not too expensive to run , similarly to the Canon MG 5650 , as it is much better to run than some of the newer Printers that I have tried , but are not suitable

I print on average about 100 pages a week I would say

I like the "current" Printer Software that comes with my current printer, although I do understand any new Printer would have its own

I don't think I need an HP , as they all seem designed for occasional Printing, and the Inks are so expensive

I'm prepared to shell out for a half decent Printer if the Inks are going to last at least 3 months as they do now

What is it you print - documents on Plain Paper, images on Photo Paper, what size and type of papers, etc?

The Canon Maxify line is for Small Office/Home Office and can easily handle 100 pages a week. It is a 4 color (CYMBk) all Pigment ink printer. Depending on the model you select it can have Automatic Duplex printing and Automatic Duplex document feeder from the ADF for the scanner. There are models with one or two paper drawers. If you want the longest lasting ink cartridges then get a Maxify that can use the PGI-2200 XL version. Also, the Maxify line can be refilled with OEM or Aftermarket Pigment inks to decrease cost.

One question is image quality. The Maxify is an office printer that does a good job with images on Photo Paper but it is not a photo printer per se. I compared output with the older MX860 and they were nearly identical with the Maxify a tiny bit better.

Another question is size and type of paper you will be using. Make sure whatever you will be printing on that the Maxify, or whatever printer you buy, can handle it.

Ok these are all good points

Normally it's A4 Paper I print on, not really printing Photos anymore

Never heard of the Maxify line of Printers, but it's one to consider

What is wrong with your actual printer?
Nothing per se, sometimes I note it doesn't take the Paper straight away, but that's only typically once a day . After that, it's fine. I got some paper stuck in it the other day which had never happened before, and I was able to get it out, but I fear something may have gotten damaged . I've had it at least 6 years, and I am beginning to wonder if I need something else or something cheaper to run in the long run

Is this Plain paper or a Photo paper?

If you print documents, internet pages, articles, bills, recipes, etc on Plain Paper with occasional photo images then the Maxify is a good choice with it's comparatively good/durable build, high capacity ink cartridges and excellent text.

The more detailed you are about how and what you want to use the printer for will result in better fitting recommendations.

We're kind of thrifty on the forum. As long as the printer continues to do what you want it to do and there aren't too many irritants in it's functioning then we would keep using the printer. It's up to you.

Your printer's User Manual has a section on how to clean the paper feed rollers. Let us know how it works out.

Most of the time that are the rollers which grap the paper. Take out the paper cassette and turn over the printer. You should see two greyrollers with rips on it. Take a wet towel with some dish cleaner liquid and clean this two rollers along the small rips. You can turn these rollers with the finger. Don’t use alcohol, because this may damage the material. You ca do this once a while if you feel it takes longer that the printer feeds the paper. There may be more of such rollers you can glean from behind.
Cheers,
Maximilian

Plain A4 Paper , not Photo Paper.

Funnily enough today, I didn't have a problem with paper feed , it was fine. It is becoming more tempermental though as it gets older.
