OK I've just got myself a Canon MG5650 for the bargain price of £50.

I know you cant' reset the chips on the carts this uses (551/550) but I see there are refillable carts with auto reset chips available. I may look into those at a later date but for now can anyone recommend good compatible carts for this printer?

Personally I would recommend refillable carts but perhaps that's because I still like to refill carts. Maybe I'm old school though and still holding on to the old days

My daughter has been using compatible carts from EBAY for some time for her MG5550 printer, with no problems, and paying less than 50p each for them.

cli-551 compatible ink cartridge prices have plummeted in recent months and unless you are a refilling junkie like myself, then compatibles are your answer.

The Hat has given you some excellent links to try. I would also add Choice Stationary and their 'Think Cartridges'. When you become more adventurous you could try EBAY or use refillable carts.

It's amazing that it was thought at one time that the IP4000 was the last Canon mainstream printer to have non chipped carts and subsequent printers would make refilling obsolete.

Here we are almost 12 years later still being able to wave two fingers at Canon.

Happy Printing!

Thanks for the links The Hat. I have used Choice Stationary "Think" carts in the past and found them good but I was just asking in case there were any others I should look at ;) .

I'm looking at the refillable carts and wasn't sure if these are a good option but I'm not against refilling in the long term as I quite enjoy it :thumbsup . Is Ebay the cheapest place to get the refillable carts?

May refilling live on for another 12 years
