Quick update. The ink levels of the PBK are definitely dropping. I’ve done a nozzle check and Yellow is still improving 95% now, but nothing from Photo Black

It can be two ways :

1- Levels drop because the printer believes that PB ink is being sucked down by the cleaning cycles but, PB nozzles being overly clogged, in reality no ink goes through and the cartridge has much more ink inside than what the printer believes. Patience (and quite a bit of wasted ink) will eventually unclog those stubborn PB nozzles.

2- PB ink is effectively sucked by the cleaning cycles, so the nozzles aren’t clogged (not all, anyway) but, not a trace of PB in the nozzle check, might mean an irreversible electrical fault of this color.

I hope hypothesis number one is correct.

Hi Gang. I’ll persevere with nozzle checks and occasional cleans whilst this set of cartridges have life in them but I think I might draw the line at spending on new ink that may not still produce results. Better to put the money towards a replacement (current) model??

Good idea financially, but don’t give up on the old girl just yet, she deserves to be given a chance to recover.. Time and Patience..

P.S. It’s a good job I didn’t mention a system clean, because that would have swallowed 35% from each cartridge...

Okay...
After Nearly a week of a daily clean and nozzle check I can say that all my other nozzles are now totally clear. Photo Black though - like the deal on Brexit - hasn’t been seen for 3 years and is looking unlikely to show its face. I’ve a level alarm on 3 inks and most of the others are getting close so I guess it’s close to crunch time. If this was a current model I’d restock and persevere, if there was a user replaceable print head I’d certainly try that but alas no.
I’ll keep up with nozzle checks until the ink indicates empty then I’m open to suggestions.

New Print heads for the Pro 1 are still available, but rare and expensive, and to change a print head you must have ink tanks at least 50% otherwise it won’t let you, yes you can over ride this command but the printer still will won't boot again because of the low ink issue. (Catch 22)

Another alternative which a bit is cheaper but still costly, would be to run a system clean, again you’ll need at least 50% full ink tanks to accomplish this but it will clear out any blockages you may still have in the ink lines and refresh the head nozzles.

Choices, choices the second suggestion is the better one, but then I’m not the one buying the Friggin ink... :hit

Worth getting the really cheap LCL inks from Amazon just to run the system clean? Still €100+ though

The fix is never going to be cheap with the Pro 1..but be careful fitting these carts because there’re not colour specific, remove and inset one at a time, make sure they match...
P.S. 123ink are also a good alternative...

Right so.
I've compromised and got the monochrome inks in from 123ink.ie. Having fitted the ones that were getting low I did a System Clean on just the group 1 inks, gave it 30 minutes and then did a nozzle check. The good news is I'm now seeing streaking on the PBK output (and all other inks seem fine). Should I just plod on now with daily regular cleans and nozzle checks or is there more to it now that I've ink flowing through the head. The PBK ink was one of the ones that needed changing so that's now on an 123ink.ie cartridge.

My Canon Pro-1 head died recently by missing 50% of the PM head printing area. Ordered and got a new printhead, delivered within a week from e-parts in France. Learned that the mounting procedure is available, so a kind request to receive this documentation via a PM.
