Hi all:

I have a Pixma ip4000 printer connected to a Toshiba Laptop Windows 8.1. When a print-job is sent from the Toshiba, the box that pops-up with Header "Canon Inkjet Pixma IP4000-USB001" shows up. Inside this box,
It lists the owner, Document name, and Printing Pages information. It is the owner portion of this group that I post about.

My son sold me the Toshiba Laptop as he got new computer. His first name is what appears as owner and not mine.

How do I change the owner name?

Thanks

What type of document are you printing? If its a MS Office type that owner info is burried meta data in the document. If its something like a simple .BMP or .JPG file try creating your own account on the laptop and then see what it says.

Cakehole, Thanks for the reply.

I have 2 laptops. An Acer, and a Toshiba.

I got the Acer new, and after 14 months I had to replace the harddrive which failed (no recovery discs). Had to replace the harddrive, and get the Acer E-recovery Media Disc Set to get the Acer back up and running. I have been the only owner of this machine, and using the recovery disc set did the initial first time start-up myself. I printed the notification that you had replied to my post, via the Canon IP4000, from the Acer Laptop, the "owner" came up with my name.

The Toshiba Laptop I purchased from my son as the Acer was down, was set up by him at the initial first time start- up. When I connect the Canon IP4000 to the Toshiba, and access the same email notification, and print it, the "owner" comes up with my sons name.

I ,as you suspect, the problem lies with in the Toshiba system as to the identity of the of the registered owner that was programmed in at the first time initial start-up. I see my son appear as Acer C: user\"son's name".

How do I change the name in the Toshiba's C:\user\"sons name" file, to C:\user\ "my name". Anything you can suggest would be considered.

Thanks

I'm not sure about win8, but in win7 you can change the username by going to ControlPanel -> UserAccounts

Windows 7 will allow you to change the username as you suggest and will then alter any notification window to the account name. HOWEVER any other software installed like Office that also asks for a username/owner name when it was install will not be altered.

Windows 8 is a right pain, especially if it has been tied to an online Microsoft Live/Outlook/whatever they call it now account and in that instance its better to just create a second account.

Me personally if its just notification windows the OP is worried about probably would not bother with anything
