Le Chapeau ditz: selling prints I would stay with OEM inks.

Absolutely. Given that even 20 years of life is likely to outlast most of my clients and myself, the Limited Edition stuff goes onto branded materials with branded ink.

None of this 'Chinese' stuff.

I was inferring it been more practical because you get the best quality from the OEM paper/inks combination with a lot less effort than you would having to profile any other 3rd party combination, longevity is not a problems when using pigment inks and this Chinese stuff is good.. ;)

We have a 'Taking Care of your Limited Edition Print' leaflet which extols the value of the care and hours of love lavished on every single sheet of media which leaves us. We're happy to put 'Printed with Canon Lucia long-life inks' on there.

Whereas: 'Printed with really good Chinese stuff from Alibaba' might raise the occasional eyebrow. :ep:ep

@Smudger My advice is to save your money and use up your cartridges fully, it is very safe to leave then in after the low ink warning because the printer will then tell you when to change them long before they become technically empty.

There will be no change in colour output and your print head will not be damaged in any way so it is perfectly safe to carry on with your printing, most of the advice given was in relation to refilling for which you’re not doing..
To add to The Hat's advice, some people resent that the printer companies design the system to leave a small amount of ink in the sponge side when the cart shows empty, so they foolishly override the system to use the last little bit of ink. False savings as the print head can be damaged when the cart is actually completely empty and printing is continued.

Danke sehr. I pulled another 'Yellow Exclamation' out of the A3 printer today. Given I@m awash in el-cheapo gangstah carts I don't mind the small waste. Be different with the Chroma-Life's. :caf

That’s just it, it’s not a small amount at all, and it can be as much as 30% of the total amount of ink…!

With the Pro 1, it can’t run out of ink, that printer won’t let that happen no matter how hard you try..
