The first set of single color cartridge that I cleaned was a set of cli-521/pgi-520. The sponge in the large cartridge - pgi-520 - was still grey after flushing and I wanted it to be white, like the one in the cli-521. What I did was to add some window cleaning solution in the water. That didn't work, so I thought: why not foam?
I use this to clean cartridges through the filling hole:
If you keep the pump like this it will pump liquid into the cartridge, but if you turn it upside down it will pump air and, combined with the solution of water+window cleaning, it will turn into foam. That foam will clean everything! So 4-5 cycles of 5 sec solution + 1 sec air will turn that sponge from grey to almost white:
Maybe this method will clean that dangerous OEM yellow?
@The Hat : are you sure that dish-washing Fairy doesn't contain something that could clog the printhead? It contains something to keep your hands smooth...
