There is a resetter for the 521s but glenn77 is using only the 521 cartridges and not the chips.
As the ink monitoring will be disabled on the 526s chips then visual inspection is imperative.
Not ideal I know but it works just as good..

It returns the cartridge to its original condition--full, instead of empty.

If you're asking how it does it, I don't know.

According to an Email from Peach Switzerland there will be a chipresetter for Canon 4850 in April.It can be ordered now for about 20 Eurthers will soon follow I think.

There is only one I could recommend and that is Octoinkjet.co.uk
You wont be disappointed with has selection of refill equipment or inks..

A chip resetter will electronically "reset" the chip on the cartridge back to reading "full" when placed in the print head of the printer. The printer sees the cartridge as brand new and fully filled even though it may not be filled with ink at all. You will need to refill the cartridge with ink on your own.

The chip resetter is used to continue to use ink level monitoring from the printer. Otherwise, a chip reading empty by the printer will need to be overridden in the printer software to continue to use the cartridge, but, ink level monitoring will no longer work regardless of the amount of ink in the cartridge. So, the chip resetter is used to continue to have ink level monitoring by the printer instead of manually checking the cartridges for adequate ink. In Canon printers, you can irreversibly damage the print head if you try to print without ink.

There are a handful of great places to buy ink refilling stuff. Where you live on the planet may shape where you purchase from due to the added costs of shipping. What country do you live in?

Hi - i am in the NE UK - Middlesborough. So if i only refill the cartridge say 2/3 full and 'reset' the chip so it reads full - yes the ink level would be monitored but would it record the true (ie 2/3 level) or a 'false' full level (ie 100%)...if it recorded the level as full and the ink ran out- same problem as not visually checking carts periodically...or am i confused still????
