Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone can assist me with an issue I’m facing with my Epson WorkForce WF-2960 printer. It has been a reliable workhorse for my printing and scanning needs, but I’m encountering some challenges with the current firmware.

Issue:
The current firmware on my Epson WF-2960 is causing compatibility issues with the remanufactured ink cartridges I use. I believe downgrading the firmware to an earlier version would resolve these issues.

Details:

  • Model: Epson WorkForce WF-2960
  • Current Firmware: Not Sure
  • Desired Firmware Version: IV16M6 (see screenshot(s))
Attempts:
I have tried searching online for a solution but haven’t had much luck finding a reliable method to downgrade the firmware. Any guidance, step-by-step instructions, or links to resources would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried the Firmware download from Epson Support Website but it did not work as it seem the software will only update the firmware and will not allow Downgrades

Additional Info:

I’m comfortable with basic technical procedures, so I’m open to trying more hands-on solutions if necessary.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
AkinnD

Everything I've read about that series suggests it can't be downloaded. Well, you know, maybe by desoldering and replacing the ROM or something like that.

You need to enter the 'recovery mode' before you write can write the firmware.

This guide on reddit describes the process, looking at the comments the procedure seems to work.

Needless to say I found this solution as a first hit on Google, so perhaps you already found and attempted this.

I think it's easy to find HOWTOs in the Google age. The question is whether it works, or has Epson made changes to block downgrades. Waiting to hear from OP.
