Atlantic Inkjet will be selling recycled PGI-5, CLI-8BK, CLI-8C, CLI-8M and CLI-8Y the chips will retain the ink level info. Their press release for these is below.
I went to the Atlantic Inkjet site and couldn't find any chipped carts for the MP830 and related inkjets? Did they offer them and withdrew the product?
To my knowledge only ONE outfit is selling chips themselves that you have to put on recycled carts to get them to work after refilling.
The press release says the recycled cartridges with reset chips is projected to be available at the end of the month of May.
Please share your knowledge of "only ONE outfit is selling chips themselves that you have to put on recycled carts to get them to work after refilling".
The original chips are supposed to have a "fusible link" which burns through when the cartridge is finally empty. If this is so, I don't see how this chip can be reset.
I am a longtime client of Atlantic Inkjet in Canada, and am usually notified when new products are to become available. So far I have heard nothing from them, but I hope this "rumour" is true. There is a pent-up demand for compatible carts for the new Canon models..Let's hope this is true.
I think it was pretty well concluded that the chipped Canon cartridges do not have a fusible link but keep track of the ink level in some kind of non-volatile memory in the little chip. Read all about it here:
I am also A long time client of Atlantic Inkjet, and they didn't inform me either. I receive feeds to press releases relating to the inkjet refilling, and remenufacturing industry, and that is how I found out.
Has anyone tried the cartridges yet? They are available now
