Has anyone ever refilled a print head?

I mostly use HP 11 but the new 88 cartridges have a dual color print head. I thin it's like yellow/black and magenta/cyan. Pretty crummy they took a step back but I guess they figured they had to inconvenience us refillers.

Anyways I noticed. Unlike HP 11 print heads that only have 1 hole on the top (I'm almost possitive that the little plug is like melted shut). The HP88 print heads have 4 holes. 2 of them are just like the HP 11 where they look like they are melted shut, but the other 2 holes look like rubber beads that you might be able to take out with a thumbtack like you do when refilling the cartridges.

My print heads are brand new so I didn't want to experiment on them until they were empty.

Check this out. It looks like what you are looking for: http://www.oddparts.com/ink/hp10.htm
Not quite..

The HP10 printheads are different from the cartridges with the printheads containing a small amount of ink in each head. The HP88's are similar and as ZenMasta guessed they also contain ink but more so it seems (I haven't tested for exact amounts).

You're welcome to have one of my old HP88 printheads which died on me to play with if you want but I'm guessing you're in the States or at least a ways away so probably not ideal for postage ;)

I've made a variety of comments on the HP88 printers so if you do a search on my username and the k5400 or l7680 you should track down a lot of the posts which should give you a bit more intel.

Hope that helps.

I order my bulk ink from oddparts but that page doesn't help for what I'm trying to do.

Websnail, can you see if you can take a thumb tack and just bend the tip like a hook and see if you can stap/pry out one of the beads from the top of the print head. The ones that seem like they would come out are on the outside front and back of the printhead and they are smaller than the other two seals (which have flat circular covers) too.
