Anyone tried this ink? Seems darn good value if you use a lot of ink (I litre capacities only) They also sell OCP ink. Cheap but also only in I litre capacities

I wouldn’t use their inks even if I got it for free,
my advice to you is don’t touch it with a barge pool.

Your been roped in by the cheap prices and yes there are cheap, I wouldn’t be surprised
if it wasn’t Universal ink they were flogging, remember the saying buy cheap pay twice.

I would recommend you try OctoInkjet in Rotherham for your next order of ink,
they’re not the cheapest but they are the best in the UK for anything inkjet related.

I'd say go for the OCP, they are probably the best quality and lowest priced inks available anywhere.
Can't speak for their inks for the Canon printers, but I've tried and been using those for Epson and they are the best in terms of gamut and fade resistance among IS (those mentioned in the post above), Inkrepublic and Inkjetfly...

Sorry but how can you make such a statement if you haven't tried this brand of ink. This ink is only slightly cheaper than OCP which this company also sells and I wouldn't class it as rubbish without trying it.

I use OCP ink which imo is much better value than any other ink on sale.

I only posted through curiosity to see if anyone had used the ink not for an opinion based on ignorance and I don't appreciate being talked down to.

Well I am sorry you took my reply to be self opinionated, condescending and based
purely on ignorance because it’s not, (Just experience)
and you are of course entitled to air your opinions also.

BUT you asked and I answered truthfully, that’s all I can do to stop guys
(Obviously this excludes you) from using rubbish inks and then seeking help wondering
why their colours are way off or worse their print head has been damaged in the process.

This has happened to so many ill informed newbie refillers time and time again
and if I can stop just one guy from making this huge mistake then it is well worth it.

I won’t go into details on the quality of inks on that website you mentioned
but if you still feel I’m being ignorant then I will point out my observations and opinions,
which I’m reluctant to do and therefore it shouldn’t be necessary...

That brings up a good point. We REALLY need to establish just where our non-OEM inks are originating from (the ACTUAL manufacturer, not a "repackager") and what the physical requirements for "ink" really are for the various printers. Heck,even the containers that ink is stored in could have an impact!

A daunting task certainly....but eventually required for our best interest.

A "competing" forum (http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/) has a supposed Canon Tech frequently quoting that refilling is a bad idea for Canons, as "Canon ink is alcohol based". Then I pointed out the MSDS for a Canon BCI-6 black cart lists WATER as an 80% component...no further response from him....

It is good that you often point out the perils of using poor quality inks and I would never accuse you of being ignorant on this subject. However my criticism was based surely on your opinion of GTI inks, which I assumed (rightly I hope) that you had never tried.

The site which sells this ink also sells OCP which I think is a good pointer to the quality of ink it sells. I had not heard of GTI ink before and my question was based on curiosity and possible feedback from any member who may have sampled this ink. Although I use OCP ink I am always on the look out for other quality ink at the right price

My reply was perhaps a little OTT and I understand you were only trying to be helpful. Like others, I am grateful for the knowledge you bring to the site

SquEasyFill is a fantastic way to refill Canon cartridges and he also sells good quality ink.

However, I wonder why you recommend KMP pigment ink over Image Specialists

That’s a simple question for me to answer.

I look for the best quality ink that I can get, and the one that’s closest to OEM, the fact that
good quality 3rd party inks are 80% cheaper that OEM inks is a good enough saving for me.

KMP pigment in my mind fills that role, there’s nothing wrong with the I.S. pigment black,
it’s just that I find KMP to be that bit better, I reckon it’s even better than OEM pigment,
if that’s possible in that it’s blacker and it doesn’t clog easily.

I got tried using several different brands of pigment inks before and gave up on most of them

because they wear troublesome and clogged occasionally so I switch to using photo black
instead for years which suited me. (100% Clog free)

Then I got a sample of Universal KMP ink, which I liked very much and was later introduced to
the new KMP 220 black and that’s the one I am currently using in all my dye printers.

Whereas I use I.S. inks in all my pigment printers but would never consider using KMP ink,
because it’s formulated differently and wouldn’t work consistently enough without it giving problems.

I try to buy only the best inks and avoid the cheapest ones because I believe that it’s not
worth saving a few pennies to risk damaging my printer and ironically Canon Inc. agree.

Quote using refill cartridges will damage your printer unquote..​
