All of your questions and more have been already answered in previous threads, you should really read up on them a few at a time, and then you will get a good idea of what is going on with putting ink into the various printers .tnlem said:Sorry I didn't run into this board early Just wanted to say thanks for the info and ask a few question. I have mp560 Just purchased. I am not a re filler, so I purchased some cartages with chips through Amazon for the printer. All the ad said is that cartages were for my printer. My first question is Do you think I will have a problem using these cartages? After reading this forem and not being a re filler my question is ( other than canon cartages )are there any cartages that I can use, or is refilling the way to go One last question concerning the chip If I refill the cartages that came with my printer(as above info do I need to purchase a re sitter for the chip or do I just refill and print?
If you want to perform a moderate amount of regular printing , re-filling is the way to go . Genuine Canon carts are 3 times the price of the Compatible Carts from Amazon .
You do not state where in the world you purchased your 560 , this will dictate where the carts are 221 or 521 types........provided the Amazon carts are the same type as your genuine Canon ones you should not have a problem. You have to use Canon 521 , or 221 you cannot use 221 in a 521 machine or vice versa.
As regards refilling the carts that came with your machine . It would be better if you did use a resetter , if you do it will re-set the chips to say that the cart is full, and the printer will accept them as new and let you print. Make sure you get the correct re-setter for your type of carts. If you refill the carts without re-settingthe chip , the machine will note the chip says empty , and think the cart is empty. It will not let you print until you override the ink empty warning , it then says if you disable the warning it will no longer tell you when the carts are empty. It will tell you that your disabling /overiding of the ink monitor has invalidated the warranty. So yes, you can just refill and print, but if you do , MAKE SURE YOU OPEN THE COVER AND LOOK AT THE LEVELS IN THE CARTS AT LEAST EVERY FEW DAYS , IF LOW TOP UP THE CARTS !!. IF YOU DON`T THE HEAD WILL "FRY" AND YOU HAVE A HEFTY BILL TO REPLACE THE PRINT HEAD.( $62.00)
REMEMBER , IF YOU DON`T USE A RE-SETTER , YOUR MACHINE WILL NO LONGER TELL YOU WHEN INK IS RUNNINg LOW.
If you have further questions please try and find in other threads first if you can , re-filling is a lot more complicated than it used to be , but its worth it at the end of the day.
