The comments recommending the use of genuine Canon GI-26 ink to refill the Maxify line of printers are scattered in various threads, but I think that is the current recommendation of the gang here for refilling PGI-1200 and PGI-1500 cartridges, right?

Although obviously available on Amazon, is there a less expensive place to buy these bottled inks or buy repackaged but genuine Canon GI-26 ink in larger bottles?

Simply no, because they are already discounted by Canon, but you can get bigger carts from other Pro printers and salvage the ink from them..

I'd think that GI-26/56 Canon ink is more suited to the Maxify range than the Lucia ink for Pro series, which is a different kind of pìgmented ink. In my experience Maxify printers are rather fussy about the ink.

That said, I won't discourage anybody willing to experiment. ;)

Although the recommendations in the other threads were to use genuine Canon ink because it was close in price to the aftermarket competition, the GI-26 Canon ink still seems to be 2-3x the cost of similar aftermarket ink at PrecisionColors. Maybe I'm missing something. With the exception of the PrecisionColors magenta, which comes out maroon on my printer, those inks have worked for me for a year or so.

My Maxify is as new since I refill the colors with GI-56.
Large format OEM ink needed regular cleaning cycles, but for BK PFI-701BK works extremely well.

It is indeed rather fussy about ink .

What printer is that ink from.. ?
From all older large format printers (Lucia ink).
Same as in the PRO-9500.

My mistake was trying with MBK.

Yes I tried the Matte black by mistake in the Maxify, it was a disaster too.. :(
Not smart from both of us .
The Maxify ink is named BK.
But the octopus-office.de 'BK' ink had glossy patches on office paper, that's why I thought MBK would be better, since I don't print photos with the Maxify.
Wrong, genuine BK has smooth and even black surfaces on office and photo paper.

No problem, the MBK is perfect for the PRO-9500 and PRO-10.
I use the 9500 most for prints on office paper 80 or 250g, A3 or 320X450mm SRA3.
Brands Double A, Clairefontaine and DCP.

PS: the octopus-office.de inks worked fine for 1 or 2 years, very bright colors too, but a later shipment started to clog. The supplier told me they didn't change the formula. Maybe just the age.
