German Method - making the all important hole

I use a simple push pin that I press and turn until it is through the plastic. If I want the hole slightly bigger I use a screw eye that I screw in the hole created by the push pin. You can control the size of the hole by your choice of screw eye size. It works for me!

Since I use a 20 guage needle, a pushpin works perfect for making the hole. I push it in while rotating back and forth. It takes me about 5 seconds. It would not work for a larger diameter needle.

A pushpin works fine in conjunction with my 18 guage needles. I use the same method as you describe, though I take more time overall.

I just use a paper clip heated with a lighter. Makes a very nice and clean hole.

I use a pin vise and a small drill bit barely larger than the needles I use.

Well, just to note the Awls arrived today are now listed for anyone who wants one...

I've not put together an all singing/dancing refill kit yet because I'm still missing an ink (cue: stock control nightmares) and resetters but all on the cards once I can figure a few things out.
