Damn... ok... Colour me somewhat red faced on this one.

I went back to our stock of needles, sharp and blunt and realised my error.

The medical needles do indeed have tight, ventless caps as you suggested. I did a bit more digging around the stocks and spotted that I've gotten the blunt needle caps (not the red scabbards) mixed up in my head as being the same as the med one which they're not.

Standing corrected..

Gee’s it’s a good job you’re not a real nurse, otherwise you’d be trying to stick me with a blunt needle with the wrong colour ink in it ! ! :gig

The Hat - you'd have your choice --- be a blue-blood or a red-blooded picture of manhood! Just stay away from the yellow - not a good look as people tend to stay away from jaundiced dudes.

Pearlhouse - you quoted the first paragraph of my post. The second paragraph dealt with clearing the ink out of the needle without rinsing.

"I also keep the squeeze bottle vertical with the paper towel around the tip of the needle and squeeze air in and out of the bottle to clear the inside of the needle of residual ink. That way you don't have to remove the needle and run water through it."

I also cap the needle for storage. I either use the sheath that comes with disposable medical needles or the caps that can be purchased from Howard Electronics when I buy a quantity of needles from them.

Great Idea squeeze the bottle in the vertical position to clear the needle before I cover it. Now that makes sense. Then just flush the needle everytime I refill the bottle as long as the top is off. I have a tendency to think to far ahead about filling my next set of carts and forget about these little things. Thanx for the advice......
