I received the new print head and I can confirm that everything works smoothly. The nozzle check is once again flawless and everything seems fine so far.
Thanks everyone for your help, I can say without doubt, I wouldn't have done it without you
Since I now have an (almost) new printer, are there any maintenance tips or anything else I should be aware of? For example, if I don't print for a week or so, should I turn the printer off or is it better to leave it on permanently?
There are no special secrets to keeping the 9500 going trouble free except to use it as often as you can, this printer can also sit for weeks without the heads clogging up, but the best way to help the machine stay happy and trouble free is to run the Ink Quality Maintenance at start-up followed by a nozzle check.
Printing small amounts of photos is a bad thing, wait till you have accumulated a dozen or so and that will save you a lot of unnecessary waste ink..
I do not know if it is better to print often or to accumulate, I tried both.
According to the manual (p 2.2) the longer the printer is shut down, the more ink is used to flush.
Depending on the hours elapsed since the last cleaning till the start of the next printing:
60-120h 3.2 ml
120-240h 3.2 ml
240-480h 5.3 ml
> 480h 8.9 ml
ink tank replacement 1.9 - 2.8 ml per channel depending on color (so you better change all cartridges together)
after a "specified" nbr of dots 3.2 ml
10 cartridges contain 140 ml ink.
4-5 ml is flushed right after insertion, leaves 135 ml.
If you print every 2 weeks or so most of the ink will be flushed.
That's why people sell or give away this printer.
But since a set of refilled cartridges cost you € 20 instead of € 100 you better print as much as you can.
