@pearlhouse, the Maxify printer is so versatile that it can take just about any ink without complaining, but it has its limits as @Artur5 found, it probably could take dye ink too, but I’d never recommend that in case it flooded all over the paper.
Any Canon pigment ink will work, it doesn’t necessarily have to be specifically for the Maxify, and the printer hardly ever clogs up and you’re not bother with constant cleaning cycles, that’s one of its many attractions...
You don’t need to purchase another set of carts, because you can refill the first set of OEM’s, you don’t need a resetter eider, because you can over-ride the ink monitoring and you can refill individual carts when thay are declared empty.

I wouldn’t do the above procedure myself, because I prefer to use refillable carts and ARC chips from China and refill at my own convenience and not wait for a cart to go empty..
