Epson sx415 will not recognize magenta ink.

Hi. I have a epson sx415 and it has been a great printer for the 3 years i have owned it. But for some reason it will no longer accept the magenta ink, it just keeps saying it doesn't recognize it. I have tried different brands of compatibles, re-installed the drivers and cleaned the sensors but it hasn't made any difference. I have a feeling it could be the printer head but i can't understand how this would suddenly stop working. The printer has not been dropped or damaged in any way and only gets used once or twice a week. So its over to you guys/girls. I don't really want to throw away what was a perfectly good printer just because one of the ink cartridges does not want to play !!!!!!!!!!

try cleaning the metal pin contacts directly on your printhead/cartrige carriage sometimes these metal pins gets dirty so the printer no longer can read out the cartriges chips.
clean it with a cotton qtip and isoproply alcohol
