EPSON Platen Gap adjustment.

So I'm trying to clean and service an old EPSON printer Stylus Color 1520, It's built like a tank

I see on section 4.1.1 on service manual there is information about "Platen Gap adjustment" space from paper to printhead nozzles.
The gap is meant to be 1.14mm, no more than 1.18mm

The EPSON gauge is just metal sheet (220$ worth as listed on some sites) so the question is what to use to adjust this Gap?

Well I decided to get my caliper and goto a store where they sell knives, I will measure them and perhaps I will find cheap knife with 1.14mm thick

Guess I will look strange

Maybe an inexpensive set of feeler gauges for checking valve tappet clearances in a car could be used? something like one of these : http://www.mytoolstore.com/kd/kdfeel01.html

More blades can be combined to get the proper distance. 1mm + 0.1mm + 0.04 mm = 1.14 mm.
