Epson L series printer - refill ink

Anyway, Epson L series vs Epson+CISS, which one do you think is better? And is which case?

Well, without having access to the L800 I couldn't comment but if you want to adjust the question a little and ask whether a built in CIS system is better than one you can remove I'd have to say the latter.

The reason I say that is because of the sheer number of problems reported in models like the PX700W (Artisan 700, TX700W) where poorly primed cartridges basically inject air into the internal CIS and thus start to create clog-like problems. In an external CIS system you have the option to pull the CIS out, reprime as required and resolve the issue but built in CIS systems are considerably harder to resolve and taking them apart is difficult with no documentation to help you through the process.

In my country, if people wanna use Epson + CISS they don't have the choice of newer model. They have to use quite old one which usually slow and lack of some nice features like LAN, wifi, ... however arc chip are mature and cheap...

To be honest, the new "gimmicks" are really just conveniences. You can easily resolve things like wifi, or similar using external peripherals and ok so you might lose out on cloud printing but the older printers are in many ways more forgiving and better wearing than much of what is around now.

Take the C88/D88 models vs' the C110/D120... I've dropped both and while the D88 bounced and was back up and running in short order, the D120 just crumpled and died right there.. Granted you're not supposed to crash test these things but obsolescence is definitely built in now in terms of materials, design and lack of self-service tools so really if the older models were still available I'm pretty sure there are plenty who would buy them up over some of the more recent releases.

Just my opinion mind but coming up 14 years of different Epson printers now..

After my HP die, I would like to have an MFP Epson printer for home use with CISS. + wifi/lan + duplex + iPrint. Can use both dye + pigmented especially Black for printing document.

What would you reccommend from your experience?

Disclaimer: As I've never had any of the L series Epsons I couldn't give a definitive assessment as I only have one half of the equation.. So take it with a huge pinch of salt.

Hmm... If a CIS is an absolute requirement then possibly look towards the older PX700W-730WD series.. if you can forgo the CIS then the information on the XP-600 -> XP750 would be worth considering, particularly given the ease of refilling.

Your problem is still going to be availability of inks and the printers themselves though so you may want to give some idea of what your options are to avoid getting your hopes up only to find you need to import a unit.

The websites do list some Canon with CISS but they are not stable and the ink is of noname from China. Brandname like InkTec, InkMate or G&G is for Epson only. (InkMate has 1 for HP large format, which I'm using for my HP Deskjet IA 5525). That means they import ink mostly for piezo printhead, not thermal printhead. So ignore anything Canon or HP or Lexmark.

And these are brandnew OEM Epson printers without any mod or CISS or arc chip: (not guarantee that arc chip for those is available, might have to import - problem! Some old models are not listed but can be searched and found!)

I would say buy two T50/T60 equip both with CISS or Refillable Carts
one with DYE ink other with Pigmented Ink
for HIGH YIELD and HIGH QUALTIY Printing

and Epson WorkForce WF-3521 with http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-...able-ink-cartridge-T1411-T1414/768403484.html refillable carts and pigmented ink. It has Duplex, Auto document feeder, fax, scan, wifi and ethernet. Ideal for daily office work

T50/60 is not a MFP and thus doesn't fit my family needs well.

Yes, I also like the WF-3521, but unfortunately in Vietnam people don't have ARC chip and CIS system for it. We don't even have resetter for it and most of new Epson cart, and all Canon cartridges as well. Your link offer a fantastic refillable cart, I like that, but unluckily they don't ship to Vietnam (most e-commerce sites don't ship to Vietnam, I have to admit). As for the ink, we do have some good ink, both dye and pigmented and pigmented uv and dye-sub from InkTec and InkMate for Epson.

and special codes.

Hi,

Does anyone know that ink for Epson L series (all L series except L800, for ex. L3xx, L2xx, L1xx) is pigment or dye? I can't work that out in the specs of the printer on Epson website.

Does anyone know what exactly "ink charging" do? Epson has that kind of things on their L series and are required to be run after each time refill. I suppose that process wash out all the ink in all tube and print head, and replace them with new ink just be filled in tank. If so, then when we refill ink there is a significant amount of ink being waste!!

Yes and Yes it does waste ink but it's part of the process. Not that I would agree.
