Hello, I've been watching the centauri carbon the supposedly all die cast aluminium frame 3D FDM printer from elegoo. Was supposed to be realased December 2024, but it seems it is delayed again. Seems like the bamboolab copy, but the catch is it's suppose to be way way cheaper. Because it has competition from QIDI, the price should be ~300Eur. But as we all know elegoo makes many mistakes over and over again. So I don't know in the long run if it will even fly!

What is your thought on this 3D printer that seems to be hidden.

Goodbye overpriced locked firmaware Bambulab
Goodbye overpriced PRUSA, manufacturing in Europe is clearly stupid. Nobody can replace China cheap manufacturing, look at electricity costs.

If it prints as good as influencers show, nobody will have to pay thousands for a 3D printer that does the same for cost of 4 quality filament spools. Cast aluminum frame makes this no brainer.

No heated chamber it is missing, however adding one is possible with PID temp control cheap and simple. Aliexpress has all the parts.

At the print size I think not having a heated chamber poses no problem. Heat soak for 20 mins with the bed at print temp and I think all will be fine. It's a very tempting printer at the price, just wonder if it will be truly free from "phone home" connections. If so then all the more reason to buy it compared to the locked down Bambu.

I would like it to have LAN port, but it doesn't. However it works with Klipper directly. The heated chamber can be easy MOD, plenty of them for bambulab with part lists etc... and buying thermocouple with temperature control is also easy on aliexpress.

Myself still waiting for any problems to be resolved by early users. How ever it is still waty better then PRUSA core one nonsense of sheet metal bolted together printer for a crazy price 1430Eur + Shipping with no accelerometer cheap very bad quality printed Z axis motors holders (see disassembly video on youtube). Seems they did not learn about QIDI printer recall fiasco when they had made printers with plastic bottom and had Z stability problems.
