I'm still on Windows 7 64bit and expect one day to upgrade my PC and go to Windows 10. What are the odds of my iP4700 getting serviceable drivers? I don't mean will it print, as I expect there will be at least a simple MS driver, I'm more concerned about the fine colour adjustments, paper selection and the maintenance tools like head cleaning. I've been down this route before with an HP printer going from XP to Win7 where hardly anything useful was left in the driver.

@sbrads your 4700 should be ok to advance to Win 10 because it’s in the newer group of printer models, which means it needs a Service Tool to access Service Mode rather than the older group of Canon models that do not so are not supported Canon.

There are drivers available now that will work in Win 7, Vista and Win 8.01 64bit. so you should have no difficulties with your 4700 in Win, 10 there are no half measures with Canon drivers they either work or they don’t, unlike HP.

I think it is too early to say anything about Canon printers and Windows 10 as only preview versions of Windows 10 have been released.

But around Aug 1st the official version will be released. I have both a laptop and a desktop that qualify for the free upgrade from Win 7 / 8 / 8.1 . I will test the upgrade on the laptop first and report how my old Canon printers will work with the new OS.

Good idea, but remember to keep a copy of your current print drivers, because you’ll probably have to use them on the new O/S, Canon won’t have made any updates..

I've since my 1st post read that all Win8 drivers will be installable/usable on Win10. Hope springs eternal.

I'm running my IP4500 printers in Windows 10. No problems at all. Windows 10 is looking like the best release ever. Currently using Windows 7x64

Thank you for the info. I guess you are running a preview version of Windows 10? I hope the release version will also support older printers.
