Thanks for the suggestions where to get both dye based and pigment ink together.

The first one you cited: www.inkjetcarts.us
They are located in my region, but I couldn't find which brand of inks they use.

Do you know? Do they use one of the ones that ghwellsjr said did better re: potentially clogging the purge unit.
He cited:

# IMAGE SPECIALIST: If you are in the USA, you can purchase Image Specialist ink from Precision Colors at www.precisioncolors.com.
# KMP inks are not available in the USA but you can buy them from Websnail at www.octoink.co.uk.
# The Canon OEM inks are not available in bulk, you can only buy the expensive cartridges. I had to drain ink out of cartridges to do the clog tests.
# The OCP Canon pigment black ink is available here. They have only one pigment black ink for all Canon printers.
Are theirs one of these?

They both supply very good quality Image Specialist inks in a variety of quantities.
Its probably the best ink in the US I would say, but can be corrected on that..

Oh, on another note, when I was looking into an alternative pigment ink source, I noticed a message on Octoinkjet website (websnail) saying that they are no longer going to be stocking one of their KMP inks:

Please note I am not currently planning on restocking this product due to the high unit cost and low demand.
If you DO wish to purchase this product please contact me.

This is for their "Canon PGI-5BK Compatible KMP Ink - Black"

They also sell a "Canon Compatible KMP Universal Ink - Black"

Just to clarify on this point, and apologies for pulling off topic...

I've had some issues with the KMP supplier that are purely administrative and waiting on them to sort things out.

Demand for the KMP inks has been pretty small except for a few enthusiasts so if those who are purchasing could pop a review up, do a bit more comparison between the different types, etc... so I can add that to the spiel and hopefully nudge interest enough, then I can re-order.

Not much point in keeping litres of ink sitting around otherwise..
