Getting Fingers Dirty
I was wondering if I need to flush my carts before I fill them for the first time. I have been reading some of the threads on this forum and it seems that you need to flush after the cart starts to give you trouble.
Here are the facts:
1. Have purchased InkTec refill kits for my MX870 printer.
2. It looks like I will need to refill my CLI-221Y cart first.
3. I still have my original Canon carts from my first printer. They are five months old.
Question: Do I need to flush out the carts (being they are five months old) before I fill them with the InkTec ink? Note: I have not placed the orange caps on the Canon carts since when they were empty.
4. I have a number of Caboodle carts (Canon carts with Caboodle ink). The carts are 1-4 months old.
Question: Do I need to flush out the Caboodle carts if I intend to fill them with InkTec ink sometime in the future? Note: I have not replaced the orange caps on most of the Caboodle carts. I have replaced the orange caps on the newest carts.
5. One can assume that it is best to fill the Caboodle cart with InkTec ink when you get a warning that the cart is low in ink. This cart is the better cart to fill than one that has been setting around for a while. True?
Question: Since this cart (see Question #5) has some of the Caboodle ink in it do I need to flush out the cart before adding the InkTec ink or is O.K. to mix the inks this one time?
Important Question: Does the ink in the five carts have to be the same type of ink (i.e.all Caboodle ink or all InkTec ink) or can you mix the ink (i.e.say three carts with Caboodle ink and two carts with InkTec ink)?
Please forgive me for being so persnickety. I am a newbie so I have more questions than answers.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you,
