For those new carts with chips, I know we can disable the monitoring to continue to use them. I don't care about ink level report, but will I still get a warning message when the tank is empty?

We know that there is a prism in the Canon tank for empty detection, this has nothing to do with the chip. It is detected by a sensor at the left side of the printer.

The MP630 is selling in Walmart for $99, I'm very attempted to get one for my son. I know there is still no resetter for these newest carts (right?), so I'll have to disable ink monitoring. If I'll still get a warning message when the tank is empty, then it is all fine.

There are still some mp530s, mp520s, and MX850s available at good prices which use resettable, larger cartridges. Try to find one of these models before buyingthe mp630..In my opinion, you won't regret it.
