I agree with the idea of finding an old clogged but electrically OK print head for testing. I wouldn't dare testing a new print head with the old logic board or vice versa, as the parts are expensive.
The parts number for the printhead is QY6-0065, but the newer print head QY6-0077 for the MK II model is also suitable for the MK I model. As this is newer it might be easier to obtain.
I did a little googling and found a logic board: http://www.lambda-tek.com/QM2-3471-010-CANON-LOGIC-BOARD-ASSY~csDE/B1628105 and a print head: http://www.printnord.de/Canon-Druckkopf-QY6-0077-Pro9500-55.html . It looks like the best prices for Canon spares are found in Germany.
