Second hand price for a working IP3600 is €10-15.
It is a very basic printer.
If the printhead (the only valuable part) is still OK, try to find a printer using the same head (QY6-0073) with a printhead error.
By preference a higher model as the MP560, MP620, MX860, MX870...
Most people give them away for free.
Exchange the heads and you'll have a working and probably better printer for nothing.
When most people have a dead printer here, and find out that the manufacturer doesn't support it, they don't go looking for someone that can use the good parts. They immediately dump the remains and get another. I like the idea, but it won't work here.

@Garf, Small desktop inkjet printers are made so cheap that when you need new cartridges, it is sometimes better to purchase another printer than to pay out for a full set of new cartridges..

Cartridges that come with printers are usually short filled, besides I buy compatible aftermarket cartridges to keep the cost down.

I have a Canon iP3600 that has a dead power supply.
I agree with Ron350: If a canon printer seems to be dead, it is most probably the logic board (some kind of short mostly caused by damaged printhead), not the power supply.
Anyway this part you would also have to search on ebay...

I have resigned myself to replacing this thing but I am soured on Canon. Since no parts are available, it hardly matters.

And then complaining to Canon when a cheapo printer breaks after 5 years ?

It was only 3 years, but this is mostly about the lack of support, no parts availability.

Ahh yes, but would you pay for replacement parts if they were actually dearer than the origin printer was.. !

Most likely not, but the price of parts is something I'll never know, will I?

The printers are sourced in one place and the spare parts in another, and the printers are manufactured for large sales volume but the parts are not..
