I have a Canon iP3600 that has a dead power supply. Guess what? Canon doesn't sell replacement parts for this unit. To say that that upsets me is an extreme understatement. I had a Lexmark printer. It sounded like a bucket of bolts, but worked fine. When I went to Vista, no driver available. I bought a cheap HP printer, with extended warrantee. The print spooler kept jamming. They replaced it and the new one did the same. I bought the Canon. It worked fine for 2 years, and when I installed it on my laptop, it suddenly quit. No power. I called Canon------"we have no parts for this printer". I don't want to hear this from the people that sold me the printer. Anyone want some cartridges? What next?

Are you absolutely sure the power supply is dead?

Canon ink printers have a history of bad logic boards and shorted printheads.

I have a iP4500 that just powered off one day and would not power back up again. I can leave it unplugged for a week and it will power up for a few minutes and then be dead for another week. The last time it powered up I removed the print head and shit the lid and it flashed yellow 5 times and then powered off. LOL

I have removed the power supply and tested every component and they all test good.

Also have an iP4000 that powered off one day and will not power back up no mater what. I put that power supply in a known good printer and it is still working fine. I will never try to use the logic board or printhead out of that bad printer.

Whatever part of the printer is bad, Canon doesn't sell them. Given that, I want no part of Canon from now on. End of story. Now to find a printer that is supported by its maker.

With the death of my Canon, I need some advise on a reliable small footprint printer. No HP or Canon.

I know nothing about Laser printers. I need something small and under $100 if possible. I looked at the Epson WF 100. Price is $245.00.

You are saying that it's a throwaway. The printer was more like 3 years old, and it carries the name of one of the biggest companies in the business. I really don't expect this. I especially don't like it. Welcome to the real world.

Does anyone have experience with Epson. I'm still thinking about the WF 100 even at $245_.

Second hand price for a working IP3600 is €10-15.
It is a very basic printer.
If the printhead (the only valuable part) is still OK, try to find a printer using the same head (QY6-0073) with a printhead error.
By preference a higher model as the MP560, MP620, MX860, MX870...
Most people give them away for free.
Exchange the heads and you'll have a working and probably better printer for nothing.
