My wife prints a lot and over almost 2 years we did maybe 1 head cleaning?
I find just printing something once a day or more is the best head cleaning policy!
Anyway I'm really upset to hear that printers have Logic Boards, I just got used to the idea that my Imac computer is smarter than me and now I find out that the printer is too! LOL!

Did you get a warning or error message at or after 70%?

Sorry for your loss of your faithful MP830. :hit

no warning re 70% ink pad usage

caught the dreaded 6A00 code, tried several different ways to resolve but NG.

the nice thing about having a same model spare is that i swapped in the new MP830 and just moved over the print head and ink carts.

my original 4 CLI8 ink carts outlasted my first MP830 w 22,00 pages, now up to over 21,000 on the second MP830.

"they keep going and going....."

I find the Service Manual for the MP830, and other models, to be ambiguous on the ink absorber counter issue. For instance, the manual states "If the waste ink amount is 7% or more, replace the ink absorber kit."

There are both error message and LED blinking light that pertain to the ink absorbers on the MP830. From the numbers you posted, they are not triggered until after 74%.

How many times do you reckon you have refilled your original OEM cartridges?
