Hi all,

I have 2 Epson R340 printers which I have tried two separate CIS both of which have worked initially, but after a couple of months, have given me vertical banding on the pages which I cannot get rid of. I have tried nozzle clean and alignment, nothing works. The first system was from Reliant Digital, the second was from CIS Inc. I am wondering if because the printers were idle for a week or so, did I cause some kind of damage to the cartridges. Does anyone know of a reliable printer/CIS system out there.

The big question is whether there are any other symptoms such as:

- air in the tubing
(If there's a lot of air or even, ALL air in the tubing, then you have a problem with an air leak somewhere)

- ink travelling forward or backward in the tubes?
(if ink travels towards the cartridges this is good but if it goes backwards then there's an air leak somewhere towards the cartridge end)

- have you ensured that air filters or stoppers have been removed?
(if air can' get in to the reservoirs to replace ink as it's used up you create a vacuum which stops the printer from getting ink at all)

- procedure for priming? Have you followed it?
(self explanatory)

- air in the cartridges at the exit port?
(air bubbles or foam are a classic issue with Epsons)

In terms of CIS kits... well I tend to bang on about Rihac because I know Sam Cahir knows how to provide support but there are others like inksupply.com, and there's a few folks on here who probably do too like Mikling... Depends on where you are in the world.
