Completely dried out CLI-8,CLI-42 cartridges. How to ready to use?

I can't seem to find the definitive thread on getting my CLI-42 cartridges ready to use. I have been using CLI-8s in my ip4200, but want to transition to my new Pro 100.

I have a couple of sets of OEM Canon CLI-42s (and plenty of CLI-8s for yellow to re-chip). I have the propylene glycol + alcohol, etc. ready to go.But I can't find the thread(s) on how to get the cartridges ready. They are very dry!

Are the cartridges flushed or not flushed before dried out? i would flush them before use if never flushed. A wet sponge will also improve ink take up even without the Conditioning Solution. If you have Hard Water then you can use a distilled water flush at the end of your flushing procedure to help remove minerals in the tap water if you like.

**** The CLI-42 YELLOW Cartridge****

The CLI-42 Yellow cartridge requires a different flushing procedure than the other cartridges due to the potential for Yello Gello formation not only from water flushing but refill ink use.

@The Hat recommends using ONLY Windex with Ammonia formula to flush and clean the CLI-42 Yellow cartridge followed by Pharmacists solution:

Other Canon Yellow cartridges were afflicted with the same/similar issue as per Mikling and Websnail. Mikling recommended a solution of Cascade Automatic Dish Washing Soap in warm water for those cartridges models:

The same goes for flushing out a print head affected by Yello Gello.

The easiest/best thing to do to not risk the Yello Gello in your new and never installed Pro-100 printer is to never use the CLI-42 Yellow cartridge at all, or, only use OEM CLI-42 Yellow cartridges always. To never use... transfer the chip from the CLI-42 cartridge onto a CLI-8 cartridge which has been or will be flushed before resetting and then refilling and then using to install the print head and printer.
