There is a rarely known effect with the i1 spectro and this halogen lamp, when you reach the end of the lifetime of this lamp the calibration status of the spectro becomes dependant on the actual voltage of the 5 Volt line, this 5V line can vary between 4.8V to 5.3 V as I see on my hardware, I have an old spectro which calibrates on a USB hub with an external power supply providing 5.2V under load, and the same spectro fails calibration when connected to an USB port below 4.9 V . It's the lamp brigthness which varies strongly with the supply voltage - acctually every filament bulb does this. Looking for and using a higher voltage USB connection can give you a little bit more lifetime for an old i1 spectro.
