I would guess you guys are all talking about for water based inks. What about e.g solvents for cleaning ecosolvent ink printheads?

Windex isn't cheap???? Even without going the generic route, such as grocery store brand, a quart or so in a spray bottle of the real deal is less than $4 here. That should clean a few dozen print heads, no? If it was $10 equivalent in the UK, that's a few shillings per head, no?

turbguy's excellent description of the chemistry of Windex has one error. Ammonia is technically not a surfactant, although changing water's pH via ammonium hydroxide only effects changes similar to a surfactant. Yeah, I'm picking a nit.

That's why some ammonia choices are "sudsing." They add genuine surfactant.
