All dye ink are not the same? As there are so many third party sellers out there their ink can often be made of totally different chemicals. So mix third party ink at your cost, I innocently mixed two brands of third party ink together and came up with muck i.e. unusable slop.:( So if you want to spend your day cleaning out your cartridges and print head well youve being warned. O it can be done with some but which ones ?.. :|

Now, all brand inkjet printer use black pigment ink for main black cartridge because black pigment ink is good for text printing in plain paper, but not good for glossy photo paper because not absorption through coated layer. For refilling to the CISS you can use the same ink based like the original so you must use black pigment ink but you must use the printer often, if not the black pigment based ink in the surface of the black print head cartridge will dry. If you want to refill the black with dye ink based yout must suction empty or near empty the old black pigment ink, if not the pigment and dye based ink will not be mixed so result black printing for the first time not solid and blurr like the cartridge near end of life. With good brand black dye based ink is not problem the black contact with the yellow in printed paper, the text print also no problem but the black is not solid like black pigment ink. Each based ink has more advantage and minus. Canon printer PIXMA iP 4000 series and above has 5 cartridge with 2 cartridge black (black pigment and black dye).
