WTF are you really talking about? You remind me of a man I knew who could not tolerate a different opinion about whatever topic was at hand. He'd get red in the face, he'd start spitting as he argued.

I believe you believe you got a great deal on the cartridges. Are there third party prefilled cartridge inks of good quality? Yes. Druckerchannel.de has done comparisons over the years. Unfortunately, not all of these are available to everyone. Additionally, refilling OEM Canon cartridges with known high quality inks is even more cost saving (not to mention an enjoyable activity). There is a measure of comfort that Image Specialists ink, for instance, performs consistently purchase after purchase.

Forum members have dealt with aftermarket inks from a variety of sources over the years and found that quality and/or print longevity are, in general, oftentimes lacking for the hobbyist photo printing. Casual printing may be perfectly fine depending on the perception of the user.

So, what's the argument, disagreement? I don't see any. Ink purveyors, especially by country, only become another layer of confusion. What, ya think these ink companies have some kind of lock on Truth, Reaity, and All That Is Holy? I think not.

I specifically noted that my experience has nothing to do with longetivity.

Canon lays ink on paper by rapidly boiling the ink. Ink formulation is important!... It's not just a dye in water, there are a lot of other chemicals involved in ink manufacturing and they can be of good quality or not, they can be missing, cheaper alternatives used, all just to reduce the cost of ink. You would also have to cut the cost of R&D to deliver cheap ink.

Maybe you found a good ink with a very good price. Or, maybe, the quality of that ink is not very good and will affect your printhead. This was the advice others tried to give you. There is no reason to get defensive...

@Paul Verizzo It seems that any advice I mention to you comes across as some kind of argument and is then thrown back at me with abusive abbreviations, so I wonder just who is getting a bit red faced here.

I put forward my opinion regarding the ink/cartridges that you had purchased as being nothing more that coloured water because if the seller can first buy them and then pass them onto you for $11, there’re contents have to be suspect, just 1 new OEM cart would cost that.

There is nothing wrong with using aftermarket carts as they can be a great way to cut costs rather than having to buy OEM carts, so long as you don’t try to refill them, but even your experience should have taught you that much.

We try to encourage the practice of refilling only OEM carts as the best alternative for Canon printers because many have found this to be true, and this is the same advice I am trying to pass onto you, and it’s not just my personal opinion either.

So please accept that I am not arguing with you, in fact far from it and you should try to accept the opinions of all others who have found this forum a place to get the best refilling advice from, so how about it.

P.S. we are all lousy at arguing here because it upsets our friendly manner that’s why we totally discourage it..

Could you give your figures to substantiate this assertion please.

I have been refilling for several years using reputable third party inks and can demonstrate significant savings following simple common sense procedures.

Me too. Sure some folks here use OEM for critical (to them) work. I dont, will not...

Based on my experience the assertion you and others make my answer is A) PROVE THAT and please dont trot out those tired pay for comment tests that are held up by all and sundry as gospel...
And B) with respect, what on earth credential is an IT specialist endowed with that TIME alone will will reveal.

I have seen too many such tests prove to be wrong. The paint industry harped on that one till they were actually called to account at law......now they field test then suggest.
Worth posting that assertion in DPReview, there are plenty of willing nuff nuff's there that will find your assertion consolidates their misguided beliefs.

Wow hang on a minute @Richard Metting you are standing on a lot of toes with that totally false statement, this forum is after all for printer and refill advice and there are over 11k members who would argue with you till the cows come home and can easily prove your article is completely wrong.

You are entitled to your opinions but be very sure of your facts before preaching to the converted here, and just for the record 3rd party filled ink cartridges are by far the best way to save money if you don’t wish to become a committed refiller..
