How do you store your software stored on CD and DVD?

I suggest to avoid heat and direct sunlight, meaning a dark and cool place will be best for avoiding data loss.

Are you referrring to software installation CD's by software companies or CD's/DVD's you are burning?

I am referring to both kinds of CD’s and DVD’s.

I have all of my Driver CD’s from Canon and home made copied in jewel cases but the box they are in is full. I was wondering if the CD wallets with the zippers were worth looking at or if there is something better?

A Cardboard sleeve works just as good...Anything once they are protected from scratches..

OK what DVD burner should I buy for my Dell Optiplex 7010 mini tower.

It came with a no name Dell DH-16AES 16x DVD-CD burner.

LiteOn is the only company to my knowledge supporting the read out of error rates with their burners - a functionality you would need if you plan to use diagnostics software like KProbe. Or you continue to burn your disks with the current burner and just get an external USB supported LiteOn burner for the diagnostics function.

It looks like this Dell DH-16AES DVD burner is made by PLDS (Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions Corporation). Is there any chance Kprobe software will work with this burner?

Just try it - KProbe is free . Another program would be Nero Diskspeed doing such error analysis. It is part of the Nero DVD burning suite but should be on the internet as well separate and without charge.
