CD/DVD Printer suggestion

Hello, i currently own the Canon ip4800 & the ip5000 printers, both print on CD/DVD media, but last week both printers died on me.
B200 on the ip4800 & the 5 orange flashes on the ip5000.
So i'm on the market for a new one.
I have manage to gather a (small) list that still support CD/DVD printing, but info on this is minimum. It's a dying feature let's face it.
I would love to go the Ink Tank way but i can't seem to find one that support this feature.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

From Canon: ip7250, TS705, TS8250, TS9150
From Epson: L805, L800, XP6000, XP 6100, XP900, XP8500
I don't know any other brand that prints on CD/DVD
I not a fan of HP in general (had very bad experience with a few of them in the past)

My ip4000 & 5000 used 13ml inks, my ip4800 9ml inks and now Canon seems to have drop the capacity on a anumber of printers to 5.6ml!! I mean, come on!

I would love to go the ECOTANK /INKTANK way, but have no info on the CD/DVD printing. It's a crucial feature for me since i still delivering these media to my clients... I refuse to go the USB way. For now at least.

Any info or suggestion would be considered,

There is an Epson Photo XP-55 which does CD printing, this one is with cartridges, and you can look for an ET-7700 or 7750 which are higher end combi models which do CD printing as well and are Ecotank units with ink tanks, the price is rather high but you get lots of very good ink with it, and it's more suitable for volume printing. Be aware that the 106 ink is as good as the Epson Claria inks in regards to fading, don't think you can get any cheaper 3rd party ink with the same preformance in this respect, I did plenty of fading tests with dye inks over the last years.

Thanks! I have a lot of reading to do. From what i understand, cheaper ECOTANKS do not support CD/DVD printing or am i wrong?

Epson supports CD/DVD printing on photo type printers, those with smaller droplets and/or light inks, but not on the general purpose 4 ink models - like the Workfore or XP Home type models regardless whether they use cartridges or ink tanks. So the P400 and P600 as A3 photo printers do CD's as well. So if you just do the CD printing on the XP-55 you might get quite some CD's printed, and you can even do refill with the Epson 106 inks of the ET-7700 (Numbers may vary in some areas of the Epson business world. ) You have the choice, and it's up to you what else and how much other stuff you are planning to print on such unit.

From Canon: ip7250, TS705, TS8250, TS9150

I have no experience with any of these printers but I have read about them on the Canon web site.

The iP7250 is a 5 color, primarily dye-based inkjet print with up to 9600 x 2400 dpi resolution. The other printers you listed have a resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi and the same 5 color cartridges (CYMK plus PBGK) with 2 of three of them also having a Photo Blue cartridge. There may also be a slight difference in the size of paper allowed for Borderless printing between the printers, which either way should not affect CD/DVD printing as the software you use to print on disks guides the printing coverage of the disk.

Questions to answer are whether the higher resolution of the iP7250 or the additional Photo Blue color cartridge in the TS9150 and TS8250 printers will make a difference either way and to what significance.

These are all Dye-based ChromaLife 100+ ink printers. If you are looking for an all Pigment ink inkjets printer then look to the Canon iP8720 or the more expensive Canon Pro 10 series or look to the Epsons.

Canon PIXMA iP8750 will print on disks. It will also print up to A3+ paper sizes. I run it using refillable carts & inks from Octoinkjet which makes it a lot cheaper to run. I find it produces high quality prints (for the money) and I love it!

I'm leaning towards the XP-6000/6100 or the XP-8500 from Epson side
Or
The TS8250 from Canon.

I really only print DVD/BR Disk & Covers and of course some mail. So I don't need anything bigger. Photos I send out on the lab.

p.s. I really really REALLY, wanted to buy an EcoTank type printer, if only they hadn't drop the CD feature....
