canon S9000

While printing , I got an error message saying "Operator Error", press resume button. That doesn't work. Canon support said to unplug printer, and try again. It is flashing 7 yellows and 1 green light. Never have seen this message in 6 years. What can I try?

Have you told the Canon support their advice haven't lead to anything? Sometimes I think all those support guys barely know a thing

Now I took the ink pad out and cleaned it, put it back in, plugged the printer back in and tried the reset code for 7 flashing yellows and 1 green, and that doesn't work either.

You might try the reset sequence with the print head removed. That was the only I could get a i9000 to reset.

bldrgem,... The Service Manual for the S9000 indicates that the 7 orange flashes, then solid green,...repeat,.. is a Cartridge error or Printhead error. Probably causes are; A) Printhead Temperature out of tolerance. B) Check Sum error in EEprom inside of Printhead. Like Canon said,.. unplug the printer for 10 minutes in the hope that the stored memory will lose the error. Take out the Printhead and clean all of the contacts on that back. Clean the contacts inside the carriage. With the head out, plug the power back on and with the cover closed, confirm that the printer will come back up to solid green. If you know how to go into service mode your can initialize the Main EEprom data which will erase old history of any error.

Put the head back and see if it will work now.
