Well shot Ian, here's one of our weird birds. We might get into trouble posting pictures so this is my latest print using the Pro9000Mk2 & Image Specialist inks:)

Rod, we are just demonstrating we have overcome the colour shift noticeable in greys.

Can't say I have ever seen one of those, in any media, what is it called? What are the spikes on the leading edges?

It's one of Australia's drone aircraft equipped with Sparrow air-to-air missiles.

Itsa Masked Lapwing or Masked Plover. We have two names for it, one for when we are sober & one for when we are normal as it's easier to say:)

Post Script

31 August 2012

In post #93 on page 10 (I think the last post related to the original problem of "Canon Pro9000 ll colour shift noticeable in greys"), I said I would see how the new batch of Lt Cyan performed with time and am pleased to say, a month or so later, that it has cured the problem. So it pays to check the ink if you get this sort of problem.

As I said earlier, the only thing I've done that has made my problem go away is to buy and use OEM cartridges at $20 CDN each.
I don't find that financially reasonable, so have sent my photos out for printing this Christmas.
I find that particularly galling, since other people find this printer to be good at printing photos.

So I just took another step to sort out the problem.
I have ordered a set of inks from a different supplier, precisioncolors.com, (yes, I know, they don't know how to spell colour correctly) which also has the advantage of being in Canada.
I have also ordered empty cartridges from them, in case the problem is caused by excess ink flow from Magenta or deficient ink flow from Cyan in my current cartridges.

If that doesn't work, I suspect my next step will be to abandon printing my own photos altogether, and buy a cheap Canon printer that will automatically print duplex.

A Merry Christmas to all of you.

Hi Dave

I see there has been a gap of 4 months since I last edited my comment.

I have not had any problems since, using the OctoinkJet IS ink. Having briefly discussed the problem with OctoinkJet, it seems to have been related to an aged batch of Lt Cyan ink. A bottle from a new batch solved the problem immediately.

Well your printer is Ok as it works on OEM inks. I believe Precision Colors use Image Specialist inks so you should not have any problems with colour matching.

If you take a look at:- http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=59331#p59331

and the thread, you will see that the colour matching can be quite good, particularly if you create your own printer profile.

If you have empty used OEM cartridges last used with OEM ink, you should be able to refill with IS inks - with or without purging the carts.

When I had the ink starvation problem, I found that the printhead input filter, had become coated with a coating which could be removed by dabbing the filter with a cotton bud soaked with "window cleaner solution" more or less any make seems to work.

Well I hope your troubles will be over, have a good Christmas and new year and good printing.

Regards

Ian
